New Delhi: Just a few days after the launch of the Global Unveil, Triumph has introduced its affordable bikes in the Indian market, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X. The introductory price of the Speed 400 is INR 2.23 lakh ex-showroom. The unveiling of the Scrambler 400 X will take place later. This price is introductory and applicable for the first 10,000 customers. After that, the bike will be priced INR 10,000 higher.

Collaboration between Bajaj and Triumph
Both these bikes, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, are manufactured under the collaboration of Triumph and Bajaj Auto at the Chakan Pune plant.

Engine
Both bikes, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, feature a new 398.15cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine generates a maximum power of 40PS at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 37.5Nm at 6500rpm. It is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The Speed 400 is a roadster-style bike, while the Scrambler 400 X is a scrambler bike, as the name suggests.

Speaking of the suspension provided in both bikes, they feature a 43mm upside-down front fork in the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. In comparison, the front wheel of the Scrambler 400 X is 10mm larger than that of the Speed 400, while the rear wheel is 20mm larger. When it comes to the braking system, the Speed 400 features a 300mm front disc, while the Scrambler 400 X comes with a 320mm disc. Both entry-level bikes are equipped with a standard dual-channel ABS with a 230mm rear disc.

Features
In terms of features, both bikes come with all-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and switchable traction control. Additionally, both bikes offer a servicing interval of 16,000 kilometers or one year, which is excellent in this segment.

Competition
The bikes competing with Triumph’s offerings include the KTM 390 Duke, Royal Enfield 350, BMW G 310 GS, and Jawa Yezdi, among others.
