Traffic Police To Impose Stricter Fines And Penalties For Violations – Get The Latest Details Here

Beyond using a phone while driving, if you are caught driving a vehicle and cannot present the right documents at the time of the police check- Details Below

In a bid to reduce wayward driving and hooliganism on roads, Indian Traffic Police has stipulated strict traffic penalties effective from March. With stricter penalties and jail terms and community service inclusion  the government seeks to establish a clear signal that traffic offences would not be let go of that easily.

Drunk Driving

As per the new regulations Drunk Driving would be perceived as a Severe crime. Convicted offenders would have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 or imprisonment for a first time offence. However repeat offenders would have to pay fines up to Rs 15,000 and bear the brunt of two years of imprisonment.

Using a mobile phone while driving would no longer be dismissed as a normal mistake, rather if caught the offender would have to pay a penalty of Rs 5,000 reflecting a zero tolerance for the act. Beyond using a phone while driving, if you are caught driving a vehicle and cannot present the right documents at the time of the police check you would have to pay Rs 5,000 Rs fine for not having a license, not having insurance would attract a fine of Rs 2,000. If there has been a history of repeat offense the violators would be charged Rs 4,000. And if your vehicle fails to show compliance to Puc mission norms you would be relegated to a fine of Rs 10,000. 

Reckless Driving, Triple Riding And Racing 

Triple riding would get you to provide for fines amounting to Rs 1,000, any kind of illegal competition or racing would cost you Rs 5,000, and blocking emergency vehicles would attract a fine of Rs 10,000. Fone for an overloaded vehicle would be around Rs 20,000.

Juvenile Offences

If you are caught behind the wheel of a vehicle as a minor the a penalty amounting to Rs 25,000 would be levied on you.  The over all change has been targeted to bring better road driving sensibilities for Indians. Drivers and riders would be relegated to heavy charges in case their vehicle is caught, beyond that new provisions also showcase strict rules for impounding vehicles, that are above the age of 15 years of registration of vehicles that are being sued for trafficking or any kind of racing.
