New Delhi: Just a few days ago, Toyota revealed the first teaser for the next-generation Innova Hycross (Innova Zenix in Indonesia), and now we’ve got our hands on 3D renderings of the three-row MPV.
The Toyota Innova Hycross adopts the family look seen on the brand’s global range of SUVs and crossovers, but the biggest reveal of the 3D rendering is that it will feature a panoramic sunroof – a first for an Innova.
Toyota Innova Hycross: External design elements
Leaked 3D renders reveal Innova Hycross sheet metal. The upcoming three-row MPV will have a flat and upright hood with more prominent grooves. The front is characterized by a large trapezoidal radiator grille flanked by headlights with L-shaped inserts. There is also a black, contrasting strip bordering the radiator grille. The front bumper has large triangular covers for the fog lights.
In profile, the Hycross will have a similar silhouette and greenhouse to the current Innova Crysta, except for the redesigned rear glass area. As with the current model, the surface is smooth, but is markedly grooved above the rear doors and fenders. The bigger draw is the panoramic sunroof – a much sought-after feature among Indian buyers.
But these 3D renders don’t offer us a look at the MPV’s rear design, although previous spy shots revealed an upright tailgate with horizontally positioned tail lamps.
In terms of dimensions, the Innova Hycross will measure approximately 4.7 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, which is slightly larger than the current Innova Crysta.
Toyota Innova Hycross: Platform, Powertrain Details
As previously reported, the Innova Hycross will be underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-C modular monocoque platform and will come in front-wheel drive guise, marking a major departure from the ladder frames and rear-wheel drive setup seen on all Innovas. yet. The monocoque architecture will allow the Hycross to have a flat floor at the rear, freeing up more space.
The Innova Hycross will be available with two petrol engines – a naturally aspirated petrol and a petrol hybrid unit – similar to the Hyryder mid-size SUV. More importantly, the Innova Hycross will not be offered with a diesel engine, which again marks a key change for its primary target audience.
Toyota Innova Hycross: Interior and Features
Not much is known about the Hycross’ interior, although recent spy shots have revealed a large floating touchscreen infotainment system.
It is also expected to see an increase in quality and equipment over the current model, with features such as a 360-degree camera, wireless charging and even an “ottoman feature” for the second-row captain’s seats. It will also continue to be offered in multiple seating configurations.
Toyota Innova Hycross: India Launch Details
The Innova Hycross is expected to make its global debut in Indonesia, where it will most likely be called the “Innova Zenix”, sometime in the second half of November 2022. The pricing announcement of the Innova Hycross in India can be expected early next year.
It will be sold alongside the Innova Crysta, which is currently only available with a petrol engine option. Importantly, the Innova Hycross will also spawn a Maruti derivative.
