New Delhi: Toyota is offering significant discounts on its popular lifestyle pickup truck, the Hilux, this month through its dealers. The Hilux holds an important position in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price of this vehicle starts at INR 30.40 lakhs. Since its launch in March 2022, approximately 1,300 units of the Hilux have been sold in the country. It competes with the Isuzu V-Cross in its segment, although the Hilux is priced considerably higher than the V-Cross.
Discount on Toyota Hilux:
During its launch in March 2022, the entry-level Hilux was priced at INR 33.99 lakhs. However, after a year, Toyota reintroduced the Hilux with a starting price of INR 30.40 lakhs, which included a reduction of INR 3.59 lakhs. This price reduction was only applied to the entry-level Hilux Standard 4WD MT variant, while the prices for the top-spec high trims were increased by INR 1.35 lakhs for the manual transmission and INR 1.10 lakhs for the automatic transmission. Subsequently, their prices became INR 37.15 lakhs and INR 37.90 lakhs, respectively. Upon speaking to some dealers, it was found that discounts of at least INR 6 lakhs are available on the Hilux. However, some outlets are offering discounts up to INR 8 lakhs on high variants based on inventory.
Comparison with Isuzu V-Cross:
Currently, the Toyota Hilux directly competes with the Isuzu V-Cross, whose 4WD MT variant starts at INR 23.82 lakhs, while the top-end 4WD AT Prestige variant is priced at INR 27.36 lakhs. This vehicle can be purchased with an approximate discount of INR 2.5 lakhs at most outlets.
Toyota Hilux vs. Isuzu V-Cross:
Taking into account the available discounts on both models, the price difference between the top-spec Hilux 4WD AT and the Isuzu V-Cross Prestige has reduced by up to INR 5 lakhs based on the on-road price.
Engine:
Both vehicles are equipped with diesel engines. The Hilux comes with a 2.8-liter diesel engine that generates 204hp of power and 500Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Isuzu V-Cross Prestige comes with a 1.9-liter diesel engine that produces an output of 150hp and 350Nm of torque. Both trucks come with strong off-road capabilities and a similar list of features and safety kits. The Hilux offers seven airbags compared to the six airbags in the V-Cross. Isuzu’s premium model features a larger engine, more power, and more torque than the Hilux.
