The next generation of the Toyota Fortuner might hit the markets in 2025. Reports suggest that Toyota will use its new and more powerful 2.0 L Petrol Turbo Engine in the next generation Fortuner. This new engine will also power Hilux’s next generation also some new generation of Toyota sports cars.
According to reports, the new 2.0 L Petrol Turbo Engine might replace the existing 2.8 turbo diesel engine. The new engine is reportedly expected to produce 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque whereas the old 2.8 turbo diesel engine generates 204 hp. However, it is not clear if the new engine will also make its way to the existing models of Hilux or Fortuner.
Reports suggests that the Toyota’s new 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine will be up to 30% more energy efficient and this will ensure significant reduction in carbon emissions.
Meanwhile, the current generation of the Toyota Fortuner’s prices range between Rs 33.43 Lakh to Rs 51.44 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in two broad trims, Standard and GR-S, along with a Legender variant with the seating capacity of up to 7 people. The Toyota Fortuner features two engine options- A 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The diesel variant also offers an optional 4-wheel drive (4WD). It also come with a 2.7-litre petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Current generation Fortuner’s key features include an 8-inch infotainment system and connected car features. It also includes a 11-speaker sound system, wireless charger, kick-to-open powered tailgate, dual-zone AC, and cruise control among others.
