Tata had showcased a few concept models at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Here are a few of the features and changes that the vehicles would receive as they reach production spec level. The Sierra as well as Avinya would be a formidable part of the EV rollout that would be brought ahead in the future to complete the decarbonization goals.
Tata Sierra
This is not the first time the Tata Sierra has been brought to the Auto expo , the vehicle was on showcase previously as well. The vehicle has been seen several times. Its new age rendition of the 1991 sierra always entices us to know more. The new car has now received a 5 door setup and a few more contemporary designs. The vehicle would have a three screen futuristic floating dash design along with cutting edge innovative features instilled in the car. The Sierra would be powered by a 1.5 litre -Turbo Petrol Engine ,but Tata would probably bring in new EV as well as diesel variants of the vehicle.
While Tata had showcased a EV version of the sierra at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo. This time around the brand showcased a petrol powered variant of the Sierra. While the older iteration seemed more like a concept model this time around the vehicle seemed more production ready. Tata might have revealed the exterior of the vehicle but the interior is still under tight wraps.
New Sierra Design
The older generation of the Sierra had a quintessential design. The c pillars of the car were pretty thin which allowed for a big glass pane to be installed for the rear passengers. While the vehicle design seemed visionary in the olden days how it would not have performed that well in crash tests is still a mystery. To bring in a similar design while adhering to the improved crash test standards would be a challenge for the manufacturer.
While Tata seems to have managed the task pretty well as the new iteration of the Sierra has a beautiful glass section with robust pillars that would work well in crash testing. The car would have a Sierra badging and conjoined LED DRLS that run along the breadth of the car.
Unlike the older sierra which offered the air conditioning as an optional extra the new one would have all the creature comforts necessary. This would have a panoramic sunroof, a center touchscreen, ventilated seats and a climate control system for the passengers. Beyond all that its possible that the manufacturer might equip the vehicle with level 2 ADAS features.
Tata Avinya:
The Avinya concept had been showcased before as well but not in the same shape. The car has now gone through several changes and boasts a more SUV like appearance. The Avinya has now become the Avinya X, the vehicle showcases the future of Tata Premium EV portfolio which would unfold in the future. The car would possibly have a range of around 500 km with versatile drivetrain and luxury interiors that are quite unlike Avinya other vehicle in the market.
just like other manufacturers Tata has formidable plans to bring in EV vehicles in the future. Every manufacturer has been planning stringent changes that would help them achieve their decarbonization goals. The Avinya would be a apart of the lineup of vehicles that would soon be launched when the manufacturer plans to shift to EV’s. This would be a more premium offering with captain seats and other luxuries with the rear seats.
