Right before 2024 ended there were reports of Honda and Nissan Joining hands to proceed with new innovations and projects that would cement the presence of both the manufacturers in the markets they compete in.
As per recent reports, Honda is seemingly very keen to launch a new full fledged 7 seater SUV that would be based on the same platform as that of the Nissan Patrol. The Patrol has been one of the highest selling SUV’s in the middle East, its possible Honda can probably cash in on its image to ramp up its sales in India.
As per Noriya Kaihara, Director and Executive Vice president of Honda Motor Company , discussions are being continued along with Nissan to bring up some of the international variants to the Indian Market.
“Nissan has a little bit larger class, E-segment vehicles that we don’t have at this moment, “Maybe in the future, we can co-develop those [full-size] vehicles,” Kaihara added.
“But in the short term, if we need we can get some of the Nissan vehicles for Honda as well.” he said.
What Does The Future Hold
As per the information that has come forward from the press releases, its possible that Honda might sell rebadged versions of Nissan’s SUV vehicles and then focus towards developing new vehicles together in the future. Beyond that the communion has resulted in Nissan getting the access to Honda’s smaller cars and Hybrid Technology like full Hybrid System.
Joint Venture Between Honda And Nissan
Honda and Nissan have joined hands to work in communion and bring affordable EV And Hybrid vehicles that would be able to provide the users with the ability of easy mobility with affordability. The high class E:hev hybrid system that has been the innovation of Honda can be used by Nissan to bring in new vehicles that would allow both brands to diversify their line up in India.
Honda e:Hev System
An ICE can generate high output at high RPM, but have difficulty in generating huge torque in low range of rpm. A motor works the opposite way it can deliver high torque from the get go when the vehicle starts to move. Hence the communion of both of these in a system lends the vehicle the ability to accelerate and move fast, while offering high mileage.

Manufacturers usually use three types of Hybrid systems- engine generates the electricity and electric motors drive the vehicle. 2- parallel hybrid system the engine primarily drives the car but the Electric moors complement 3-A system where the electric motor as well as the engine drive the vehicle together. The specialty of the E:HEV system by Honda is that it helps the vehicle during acceleration city driving , and its only under heavy acceleration that the engine drive engages, the engine performs in such a manner while the HYBRID system is engaged. Beyond that the vehicle also offers the user with the ability to use the EV capabilities solely while driving.
EV System
EV systems are rather simple , the car is powered by axle mounted motors. Most EV’s use a skateboard like platform in which the battery is stored down low in the vehicle to help the vehicle gain a low center of gravity that helps the vehicle with handling and driving. The Hybrid Systems are much more complex as they have both the functionalities that of a petrol car as well as a complete EV.
