Tata Sierra has become one of the most highly anticipated vehicles in the whole Tata Clan, its appearance in the previous few AutoExpo’s have further added to the cars Charm in India. Tata seemingly wants to check and evaluate every facet of the new SUV before launch as the vehicle has been spotted testing a few times in India. The car would possibly be launched in EV as well as ICE variants but as of yet only the Ice variant has been spotted testing.
Tata Sierra Spotted Testing
As per other reports it has been published that the car might launch by the end of this year. The car has now been spotted testing by auto enthusiast Vedant Awate near Fc road in Pune, the test vehicle was under heavy camouflage. Tata has given the car a completely new style and presence unlike any other model of the lineup. To upkeep the quintessential design of the older sierra would have been a major issue for the engineers, still they have been able to maximize the green room of the car without impacting the pillar strength as per the sighting and the model showcased at Bharath mobility expo.
The top variants are being expected to have top of the line features along with new Adas level 2 safety protocols and new infotainment system as well. Whether the new Sierra be given the off roading credentials similar to that of the other 4×4 offroaders or not is still a mystery.
EV Harrier
Apart from the Harrier the brand has also been working on the new Harrier EV, it has been spotted a few times testing and once it was seen testing on a racetrack in south India as well. No details have been shared about the details of the powertrain that the Harrier EV would have. As per the rumors its possible that the Harrier EV might be launched with a rear axle mounted Electric motor as well.
Expected Powertrain For The Sierra EV
Considering the stature of the vehicle its possible that Tata might launch the car with a petrol as well as a diesel powertrain. The Diesel Powertrain would be similar to that of the Stellantis Sourced 2.0 liter unit that is being used with the Harrier. The car generates about 170 PS of power along with a peak torque of 350 nm. The Petrol engine could be a 1.5 litre turbo petrol GDI engine that generates close to 170 PS and 280 nm of peak torque. Gearbox options for the new sierra would include a manual, automatic and possibly a DCT as well.
Price Of the New Sierra
The car would be an upgrade over the safari and the Harrier and the top model of safari goes to about RS 27.25 lakh. So keeping that is perspective the Sierra petrol could be priced to start from 15 lakh Rs for the basic variant and go up to Rs 30 lakh for the top of the line possibly 4wd variant.
