While The ICE versions Of the vehicles often have different chassis and monocoque’s. EV vehicles are loosely based on the same Architecture principles. A chassis as well as a battery pack beneath the floor of the vehicle. While EV manufacturers might have experimented with other layouts as well. But this one provides the vehicles with a low center of gravity that too concentrated in the middle of the vehicle hence this lay out has become the go to for most manufacturers.
Following the blueprint, Tata has pioneered its new Pure EV architecture which would underpin countless EV vehicles that Tata might launch in future.
While Punch EV is the first EV this architecture underpins, the architecture would be sued to spawn countless vehicles under the Tata moniker in the Future.
The Key Pillars Of The Acti EV Architecture
As per Tata the key ideology behind the architecture has been the core values of a high performing vehicle- Technology, Modularity and Space Efficiency. The architecture itself consists of Four layers.
Layer 1 Powertrain
The Acti EV platform that Tata has built from the ground up has been designed with Battery cells that conform to the highest standards of battery regulation. This design offers the manufacturers to alternate between different battery pack sizes,- offering electric range from 300 to 600 km. Beyond that the architecture also allows the manufacturers to alternate between AWD,RWD and FWD. Tata has taken care of all the necessary parameters to make this platform as dynamic as possible, as it can also easily handle charging of 7.2KW to 11 KW from the onboard Ac chargers and beyond also be able to easily gather charge from a 150 KW Dc charger.
Layer 2
The second layer of the architecture would house the chassis integrals. Tata has constructed the chassis in such a manner that it can fit various styles of body styles and structures with ease. Beyond that Tata has had the foresight to manufacture the chassis in such a manner that it has the ability to easily conform with the GNCAP/BNCAP safety protocols. The Acti EV platform maximizes the cabin space without the hindrances of a transmission tunnel, allowing manufacturers the full freedom to choose between different body styles and interior design.
Layer 3
The Acti EV architecture has ADAS level 2 capabilities, and hence it can ensure a higher level of safety for vehicles along with navigation capabilities. The chassis is ready for 5g connectivity which makes it ready for the added benefits of advanced network speeds and seamless connectivity.
Layer 4
This architecture is ready for future, as it already has a ready scalable cloud architecture. This promises an enhanced user experience with arcade EV an in car app suite. Beyond that such integrals help the vehicle that has been based on this platform to have the capabilities to gather air to air updates for software’s and other features.
Tata Punch EV
Tata Punch has been constructed on the same platform and if you are seeking a EV for a daily run about this car could be the best possible choice for you. The car is powered by a 35 KW battery pack and a total range of 285 km. Punch EV has a peak torque output of around 90kw and a peak torque of 190nm. The Vehicle has a lot of variants and they start from Rs 10,00,000 all the way till 14,44,000 Lakh Rs.
