New Delhi: The electric version of Tata Motors’ Tiago is getting a huge response. According to the company, more than 20,000 people have booked the Tiago EV. Around 25% of these customers are first time car buyers. This electric vehicle is currently available in 170 cities of the country.
The Tiago EV was launched in September this year at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh, ex-showroom. 10,000 people booked the car on the very first day of its launch. Its introductory price was available for the first 10,000 customers, but the company extended the offer to 20,000 customers considering the excellent response the EV was getting.
Tata Motors recently revealed that the Tio EV has crossed the 20,000 booking mark, reports Financial Express. Of these, 25% are buying a car for the first time, which is a surprisingly high number.

The price will increase next month
Tata Motors recently announced a price hike on its cheapest electric car, the Tiago EV. The new prices will apply from January. These prices will increase by 3 to 4%. All variants of the Tiago EV may increase in price by Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 due to this.
These are current ex-showroom prices. After the new prices, the changes may increase by 30-35 thousand rupees in different variants.
Tiago EV range, battery and charger
The Tiago EV comes with two different batteries. One of them is a 19.2 kWh unit battery, which should provide a range of up to 250 km per charge. It has a power of 60 horsepower. The battery with a capacity of 24 kWh provides 74 horsepower and a range of 310 km on a full charge. The Tiago’s battery can be charged to 80% in 57 minutes using a DC fast charger, while a full charge takes 8.7 hours using a conventional charger.
The car has 4 star safety
Tata’s Punch, Nexon and Altroz have a 5 star safety rating. On the other hand, the Tiago EV has a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating. The Tiago EV has front airbags, ABS with EBD, reversing camera with dynamic instructions, i-TMPS and an IP67 rated battery and motor.
