Global debut on 28 September

The automaker has officially said that the new Tata Tiago EV will make its global debut in India on September 28. It is being told that after launch, this electric car will be the cheapest electric car in the country.

India’s first electric hatchback

Let us tell you that the Tata Tiago EV will be India’s first electric hatchback car and will be below the Tigor EV in the company’s portfolio. On the other hand, Tata Motors has not yet given any official specification about the product. Also, no other information has been disclosed about it. The Tiago EV is likely to share the underpinnings and mechanicals with its electrified sedan sibling. Last year, the Tigor EV was launched in India for the PV segment.

Coming to the specifications of the Tigor EV, the car will be powered by Tata’s advanced Ziptron technology. Which uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. This powertrain generates 74 Bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. The same car can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds. It gets a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The car can cover an ARAI-certified distance of 302 km on a single charge. The upcoming new Tata Tiago EV is expected to get the same powertrain.

Here is the price

The Tigor EV has got a 4-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test and the Tiago EV is expected to be quite safe too. Talking about the price of this car, the Tata Tiago EV is expected to be priced around Rs.10 lakh (ex-showroom). In such a situation, this car will win the title of the cheapest electric car in India.
