New Delhi: There is more good news about the new Tata Sierra concept unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. According to Tata’s head of global design, Martin Uhlárik, the design of the upcoming SUV has been finalized, so the production Sierra will look a lot like the SUV you see above.

Launch

Tata says the Sierra will go on sale in 2025 and its footprint, which is about 4.4 meters long, puts it in the same segment as the Hyundai Creta, which sits below the Harrier. Here’s everything we know about the new Tata Sierra design.

External design locked

The Sierra unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 looks quite different from the Tata SUV concept unveiled in 2020. For one thing, it’s bigger than before and the overall design is much cleaner and slightly subdued and sober compared to the first Sierra concept.

Additionally, the previous Sierra concept was a two-door SUV with curved rear windows that reached up to the roof, similar to the OG Sierra of the 1990s.

Features

The new concept features gloss black trim on top, mimicking the Sierra’s original rear fixed glass design with a panoramic sunroof instead of a fixed glass roof. Of course, it also gets five doors for practicality.

However, we are not even complaining! In fact, we’re happy to see the iconic Sierra return in a more modern iteration. It has a clean front design with sharp LED DRL across the width which looks great.

At the rear, the SUV has an upright boot lid and slim connected LED taillights. The lower one has a massive rear bumper and a massive artificial skid plate.

The SUV is 4.4 meters long, slightly longer than the Hyundai Creta, which measures around 4.3 meters. This should put it in the same league as other SUVs in the compact SUV segment.

Dashboard layout and design

Inside, the dashboard of the SUV has a minimalist design with a two-tone color scheme. There are concept elements such as spacious airline-like seats and the complete absence of buttons and dials that are shown in the concept with screens.

The production version is likely to stick with physical HVAC controls and buttons to control various functions in the SUV. Expect the floating touchscreen, ambient lighting and layered dashboard design to be present in the production Sierra as well. The overall design looks minimalistic and luxurious.

It will be offered with a panoramic sunroof and should come with segment-matching features that we have seen in the Tata Harrier, such as ventilated front seats, a premium sound system, connected car technology and up to six airbags. The Sierra should also boast ADAS, which will soon debut in the Harrier and Safari.

Rivals

Apart from the aforementioned Creta, the Tata Sierra will compete with the Kia Seltos, MG Astor and Tata’s Curvv, which will be sold ahead of the Sierra.
