New Delhi: Tata Motors has unleashed a game-changer in the Indian SUV market with the debut of its CNG-powered Tata Punch. This new contender is set to challenge not only the recently launched Hyundai Exter CNG but also the Maruti Suzuki Fronx S-CNG. As the CNG SUV segment heats up, we dive into a head-to-head comparison of the Tata Punch iCNG and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx S-CNG, exploring their specifications, features, and pricing.

Engine performance and Transmission

Under the hoods of these fuel-efficient SUVs, the Tata Punch CNG houses a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine producing 72.5 horsepower and 103 Nm of torque in CNG mode. In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG boasts a 1.2-liter four-cylinder powerplant that churns out 76 horsepower and 98.5 Nm of peak torque in CNG mode. Both vehicles are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission for a seamless driving experience.

Delving into the features, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG flaunts an array of offerings, including electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls, auto climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ESP, Hill-Hold Assist, and dual airbags.

On the other hand, the Tata Punch CNG boasts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with distinctive additions like rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and stunning 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The Punch CNG even surprises with a voice-assisted sunroof, a feature absent in the Fronx.

The Tata Punch CNG lineup starts as low as Rs 7.10 lakh for the Pure variant, reaching up to Rs 9.68 lakh for the feature-packed Accomplished Dazzle S.
