New Delhi: Tata Motors on Tuesday made a statement regarding a fire incident in Tata Nexon EV in Katraj area of Pune, Maharashtra on April 16. It said the fire emerged due to repair of the vehicle at an unauthorized workshop.
No passenger was hurt in this incident. As per media reports, a team of technical experts conducted a detailed investigation into the incident of fire in Nexon EV.
In an official statement, the auto company said that the Nexon EV in question was recently repaired, in which its left headlamp was replaced at an unauthorized workshop.
Tata Motors said, “Over an extended period of time, this led to a short and trapped heat. The fitment and repair process, at the unauthorized workshop, had shortcomings, which caused an electrical malfunction in the headlamp area leading to the thermal incident. The affected area is concentrated only in the zone of repairs carried out. We remain engaged with the customer to offer all the support needed.”
The model involved in the fire incident was a Nexon EV XZ+ and was fairly new, having been registered in July 2022, government data showed. This is at least the second incident of Tata Nexon EV catching fire. In June 2022, a Nexon EV caught fire in Mumbai, Maharashtra. However, no one on board was injured.
The video of the incident went viral on the social media, causing alarm among the buyers of the Tata Nexon EV.
