Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol first-drive review: Specs, variants, and features listed

Recently, News24 had a chance to take a first-drive review of the Tata Harrier as well as the Safari. Here’s what we thought about the new variants.

While the go-to engine choice for SUVs is often diesel, heavy restrictions and the 15-year vehicle ban rule make having a petrol-powered lineup a sensible choice for manufacturers. To meet this demand, Tata has recently launched the all-new Harrier and Safari with petrol engines. These versions will sell alongside the diesel-powered variants. Recently, News24 had a chance to take a first-drive review of the Tata Harrier as well as the Safari. Here’s what we thought about the new variants.

Both the Harrier and the Safari petrol variants are powered by the 1.5 Hyperion engine that debuted on the Sierra SUV and was developed in-house by Tata. Both vehicles are offered with the same engine in a fixed state of tune, which helps them produce 170 hp and 280 Nm of peak torque—an increase of 10 hp and 25 Nm over the Sierra.
