Witnessing the slowing down craze of its 7 seaters in the line up Suzuki has been planning to expand its line up with a new 7 seater car that was recently spotted testing. While Reports have been mentioning the vehicle as a 7 seater Grand Vitara the brand has not yet confirmed any details about the launch or the use of the grand Vitara Moniker.
As per a report by Rushlane the new vehicle has been internally codenamed the y17, the car was spotted testing outside the Maruti plant, hinting that the vehicle might be near its launch, expected around Diwali 2025.

The new rendition of the car was spotted by Auto Enthusiast Ravi Tank. The latest images were captured when the new vehicle was entering the Maruti Testing facility fully camouflaged. The extended wheelbase of the vehicle along with a camouflaged third window have become the reason behind suspicion that this might be a new 7 seater rendition of the already existing Grand Vitara. As per Rushlane the extended wheelbase would be used for another row of seating and would offer profound practicality for buyers with larger families.
Design And Powertrain Options
While Suzuki has not revealed any details about the new Car its possible that it might be powered with the same engine options as before. A 1.5l K15C Hybrid petrol Engine- that would produce about 103.06 ps, and a peak torque of 16.8 NM with 5 speed manual and 6 Speed automatic transmissions. And a 1.5l 3 cylinder Hybrid petrol engine – with 115.56 PS and a 141 Nm peak torque figure mated to a E-CVT gearbox.
Competition
The car would go against the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus. Suzuki has trademarked two names for the upcoming vehicle Escudo and Torqnado, which one would become the official name for the upcoming new SUV only time would tell.
