Suzuki Victoris SUV To Launch On This Date: Positioned To Rival Hyundai Creta

Maruti Suzuki will unveil its new compact SUV, the Victoris, on September 3, 2025, positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara with multiple powertrain options

Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil its all-new SUV on the 3rd of September. While there were expectations that the upcoming SUV would be named the Escudo, a recent leak has revealed that Suzuki has trademarked the name Victoris. The SUV has been internally codenamed Y17. As per media reports by Rushlane, the name leaked from Maruti Suzuki’s own official website, where it briefly appeared in the search results, effectively confirming the identity of the brand’s latest compact SUV.

Positioned Between Brezza and Grand Vitara

Since the car will be sold via Maruti’s dealerships, the Victoris will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the company’s lineup. The all-new SUV will be underpinned by Suzuki’s Global C platform, the same architecture once used in the Grand Vitara. Sharing the platform will help Suzuki offer the vehicle at a much lower price.

According to a report published by Rushlane, the car might be slightly longer than the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The segment is already crowded with strong competitors, and soon new entrants such as the Kia Seltos facelift, Skoda Kushaq facelift, and Volkswagen Taigun facelift will intensify the rivalry. Suzuki aims to stand out with its pricing and features.

Powertrain Options

The car will likely borrow its engines from the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. These include the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox, along with an optional Suzuki AllGrip AWD setup. A 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 115.5 PS, paired with an e-CVT gearbox, will also be available.

To achieve sales volumes similar to the Hyundai Creta, the Victoris will be retailed from Suzuki’s Arena showrooms. It is also possible that the Victoris will be launched in a CNG variant, expected to deliver 88 PS in CNG mode.

Currently, the Hyundai Creta continues to lead the segment with over 37% market share and, from January to July 2025, has been India’s best-selling car overall. The official reveal of the Victoris will take place on 3rd September 2025.
