Suzuki Ciaz to be phased out by April 2025 due to the declining sales that have been reported for the moniker. As per Suzuki the formidable preference shift of users towards SUV’s has led the sedan’s sales to plummet. The production of the Ciaz would expectedly end by April. As per reports.
Suzuki has declined any such development, but several other industry sources have confirmed that the production of the new vehicle would soon be ceased.
Shrinking Sales The Reason Behind Ciaz’s Discontinuation
The shift in buyer’s presence has been one of the most prominent reasons behind the sales slowdown. In 2015 Sedans such as Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Dzire had a stronghold on the market. As per the details that have been shared by Suzuki its has become parent that the Suzuki’s share has plummeted to 11% .This marks a profound shrinkage from the 35 to 40% it held in 2017-18.
What New Car Could Replace the Ciaz
One of the main questions that has become the curiosity of all enthusiasts has been what would replace the Ciaz. As of yet Suzuki has two options it can either bring in more variants to their SUV range, launch a new SUV or develop a new flagship sedan. Which route would Suzuki take is still a mystery. Here are a few of the choices detailed
Suzuki Dzire
Its possible that Suzuki might add more variants to the Dzire moniker to fill the up the vacuum of Ciaz But since Ciaz was a flagship sedan Suzuki might be developing a new sedan that can replace the Outgoing Sedan. But amid the falling sales it can be a little difficult to launch a new model in the sedan category which is showcasing dwindling sales.
New 7 Seater SUV
Suzuki might aim at launching a new SUV’s as the SUV segment has been showcasing an increased interest amongst the users. Beyond that it has become apparent that Suzuki is already working in a new 7 seater grand Vitara that was recently seen under camouflage testing near the Suzuki factory.
Its possible that the Ciaz might go out and Suzuki would replace it with a new Flagship SUV that would possibly showcase a better sales trend. It highly unlikely that Suzuki would take another gamble as that of the Kizashi. Suzuki does not has any sedans other than the Dezire and Ciaz even in their global line up. Its highly likely that the Ciaz Moniker would be replaced by a SUV.
Reason For The Decline
Suzuki’s abrupt decision to exit the diesel market in 2020 led to a decline in the overall sales of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. This was just after a year if launching the newly in house developed 1.5 liter DDIS diesel engine. The Diesel power mill was axed to leave the car with just a petrol powered engine. Beyond that the car was also not updated to match the other competitors such as the Verna, Honda city and Virtus to help the vehicle move ahead.
