A recent update, has revealed that Stellantis group is considering a possible sale off for its luxury Maserati brand, among other options. Reuters has revealed that the brand seeks to overhaul its sprawling portfolio of 14 brands. The report further details that the discussions regarding the sale of the brand started way before the new CEO Antonio Fliosa, was appointed.
While the brand has been going through its own operational issues the recent implementation of traiffs has added to its misery. The import tariffs along with competition from Chinese brands has rendered the brand in a state where they seek new solutions for their deprived conditions actively.
The Reuters report further suggested that Stellantis might be factoring in divestment of Maserati, its only luxury brand. Reuters sources further revealed that advisers assessment was still in its preliminary stages and would soon reach a stage where the stellantis would take the final decision.
Maserati’s Falling Sales
Over the recent past, Maserati’s sales fell more than half in 2024, they recorded a new low of only 11,300 units and the brand further showcased an adjusted operational loss of 260 million last year. The brand currently has no new launches in the pipeline. Its last launch was put on hold by Steallantis group last year. The report further revealed that Stellantis has recognized that it has too many brands making it difficult to properly manage and invest in all of them.
Reuters sources revealed, that all the possible options regarding Maserati’s future are currently on the table and the brand has not decided on any one of them. Its possible that the board members might be divided over Maserati’s future and might suggest selling it off as the best option.
Since the brand has had a profound motoring history it would be interesting to witness what happens in Future. And how Stellantis would proceed further.
