New Delhi: The Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield is set to launch its next product, the Himalayan 450, in India. This bike has been spotted multiple times covered during testing, but recently clear images of its production model have been captured on camera. These new spy images have emerged from Austria, where the final phase of testing for this bike is taking place.
Features:
The recently spotted testing model has been seen in black color with green accents. It has been observed with accessories such as auxiliary lights, pannier mounts with side panniers, and a top box. It features a bulb-shaped fuel tank, which appears larger than the current Himalayan model. Additionally, it may come equipped with a full digital instrument cluster, navigation with Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone connectivity, wire-spoke wheels with dual-purpose tubeless tires, dual-channel ABS, ride modes, and ride-by-wire.
Design:
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 could feature several segment-first features, including a three-in-one taillamp setup. It has two LED flashers that function as turn signals, indicators, and brake lights, similar to what can be seen on the BMW S 1000 RR. This bike could also be the first Royal Enfield motorcycle to come with an all-LED lighting system and USD front forks.
Powertrain:
Apart from these features, the Himalayan 450 will be Royal Enfield’s first model to be powered by a new 450cc single-cylinder engine. This engine is expected to generate around 35bhp-40bhp of power and 40Nm of torque.
Competition:
The competition for this bike will be the KTM 390 Duke, which is equipped with a 373.27cc engine producing 42.9PS of power. The ex-showroom price of the KTM 390 Duke is 2.97 lakh rupees.
