Customised RE Continental GT 650 gives Retro Vibe

A custom shop in Mexico City called the Hardheads Motostudio has built two modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650s with a vintage racing fairing, a new seat and more. These two customised motorcycles are named HH5 and HH6. Two Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Mr Clean Editions with a fully chrome fuel tank were used for this project.

First of all, the Hardheads Motostudio added a full fairing to the motorcycles, giving them a look similar to the vintage cafe racer bikes of the 60s, around the same time Royal Enfield launched the original Continental GT. Additionally, they replaced the raised clip-on handlebars on both motorcycles with custom-lowered ones, resulting in a more aggressive riding position.

They opted for a grey finish on both bikes and added the bike’s numbers in yellow circles in a vintage-style font on the fairings to give a more vintage look.

They shortened the subframe, added a custom seat and a round LED taillight, to provide a more compact profile to the motorcycles. Additionally, the pillion footrest supports were also removed.

They removed the side panels and you can see through the frame easily. Other modification on the motorcycle includes a two-to-one replacement exhaust from S&S Cycles. In addition to reducing overall weight, this should also provide a good performance increase.

A tapered air filter replaced the stock airbox, providing a clean look on the sides. These modifications are expected to increase the power of the original 648cc parallel twin engine to 47PS and 52.3 Nm. Retro grooved tyres wrapped on spoke wheels complete the classic look.

Origins: Exploring the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

Royal Enfield recently launched the updated Interceptor and Continental GT 650 twins in the United States. The motorcycles received the biggest update since their introduction in 2018. The Continental GT is priced at $6,349 (around Rs 5.27 lakh). However, the versions with alloy wheels cost more.

The GT 650 in Slipstream Blue and Apex Gray are priced at $7,149 (Rs 5.93 lakh). The Continental GT 650 is more modern than ever, thanks to the major updates in aesthetics. The motorcycle gets a full LED unit borrowed from the Super Meteor 650. There is an all-black finish on the wheels, engine, mirrors, exhausts, and other bits, adding to the overall appeal.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 now rides on alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. The features list includes adjustable levers, a USB charging port, and rotary switchgear.

The motorcycle retains the popular 648cc parallel-twin air-cooled engine, capable of churning out 47hp of power and 52Nm of peak torque. The powerplant is connected to a six-speed gearbox and is placed in a double cradle chassis.

The telescopic forks and gas-charged shock absorbers manage the suspension duties. Furthermore, the motorcycle retains 320mm and 240mm disc brakes with front an rear dual-channel ABS.
