New Delhi: To wrest the title from Tata Motors for making India’s most affordable electric vehicle, Mumbai-based electric car startup PMV Electric will launch the cheapest electric car in the country on November 16.

The first Eco-Friendly and Sustainable–Electric (EaS-E) electric product is a micro-electric vehicle that plans to create a whole new segment in the Indian automotive industry called the — Electric Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV) segment.

Speaking to the media, Kalpit Patel, Founder of PMV Electric said, “We are delighted to officially launch the product. This will be a milestone for the company as we have created a world class product manufactured by an Indian company. We look forward to introducing a new segment called Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV), which is focused on everyday use.”

The Eco-Friendly and Sustainable – Electric (EaS-E) will be available in three variants, with each variant varying in range from 120 km to 200 km per charge. With a 3kW AC charger, it is said to be fully charged in less than 4 hours. This small electric vehicle will be 2,915mm long, 1,157mm wide and 1,600mm tall. The car will have a wheelbase of 2,087 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm.

According to the company, the curb weight of the upcoming micro EV will be close to 550 kilograms. The EaS-E will feature amenities such as a digital infotainment system, USB charging socket, air conditioning, remote keyless entry and remote parking assist, cruise control, seat belts, etc., reports PMV Electric.

The upcoming EV will have large windows, arched wheel arches and alloy wheels. It will have a full-width rear light at the rear. The PMV EaS-interiors E is expected to have two seats, a simple dashboard and cloth upholstery. It is said to include cruise control as well as power windows.

There has been no official announcement about the estimated price of the EaS-E yet, but the starting price is expected to be between Rs. 4,00,000 and Rs. 5,00,000. Other notable features of the upcoming electric car include EaS-E® Mode: Footless Driving in Traffic, Cruise Control, Regenerative Braking, OTA (Over The Air) Updates, Remote Controls for A/C, Lights, Windows and Horn and Remote Parking Assist.

In other micro-electric vehicle news, British automaker MG Motor recently announced that the two-door, compact Air EV will go on sale in India in early 2023.

Sources claim that MG may showcase this brand new small electric vehicle during the Auto Expo 2023 in February the same year. The SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture’s micro EV, a small electric car known as the Wuling EV that was introduced in Indonesia in June this year, will serve as the basis for the MG Air.

Although MG has yet to provide information regarding the vehicle’s powertrain or range, the car is offered in two configurations in China. A two-seater with a length of 2,599 mm (102.3 in) and a four-seater with a length of 2,974 (117.1 in).

Both will have electric motors that produce 40 horsepower (30 kW / 40 hp), which Wuling claims is more than the Mini EV and Nano EV.

In addition, the Wuling or MG Air EV is expected to produce 30 kW (41 hp) or 50 kW (68 hp), up from the 20 kW (27 hp) of its likely cheaper sibling. . Both are expected to have 26.5 and 28.4 kWh lithium-ion batteries and a range of 300 kilometers on the Chinese CLTC cycle.
