New Delhi: On the eve of the 75th Independence Day, Ola Electric has announced the unveil of its new highly anticipated electric car. The company says the car will arrive in 2024 and have a range of 500 km.

The Ola Electric car will have its own Move OS and Assisted Driving Capability and will also be keyless and without handle. The electric car will have an all-glass roof and the smooth aerodynamic body of the Ola Electric car will deliver a drag coefficient of less than 0.21.

When Will It Launch?

It will be launched in 2024 and is expected to offer better range than electric vehicles from all mainstream automakers, which include the Tata Nexon EV Max and the upcoming electric Mahindra XUV400.

The Ola electric car is likely to be powered by batteries made from the new 2170 lithium-ion cell that the automaker revealed earlier.

Ola S1 electric scooter

The company also unveiled the Ola S1 electric scooter to target the more affordable segment. The Ola S1 has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). Interested buyers can book the scooter for Rs 499. Reservations will take place from August 15th to August 31st.

The sale of the scooter will be for those who have pre-booked it on September 1st. For others, sales will begin on September 2. Ola Electric has promised to start deliveries for the Ola S1 from September 7.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CEO, Ola said, “Over the past year, electric cars have been at the center of the transformation of personal mobility. At Ola, we have been at the epicenter of this change, driving adoption, increasing access and affordability.

“Currently, less than 15% of Indians own a 2W or 4W and with India poised for strong economic growth. The Indian automotive industry will witness demand for 20 million 4W and 50 million 2W each year.”

“We believe that India must become the global epicenter of the EV revolution and control 25% of the world’s automotive market.”

“Today at Ola, we are taking Mission Electric to the next level by delivering a plan to invest in technology, build scale and deliver the quality products India deserves. As we build for India, we will also create the EV paradigm for the rest of the world,” Aggarwal added.
