Nissan India does not seem to be in a hurry to reveal their all-new Hyundai Creta rival, as even when the auto enthusiasts had their eyes peeled for the unveiling of the new vehicle, the brand has only showcased its SUV partially. Nissan has named their SUV the Nissan Tekton. The new SUV is expected to launch in India and Japan in mid-September.
Dissecting the name, the Tekton means “craftsman” or architect in Greek, and so far the Japanese brand has revealed a slew of details about the Tekton exterior design and a few bits about the interior of the vehicle.
Nissan Tekton is inspired from the flagship Patrol SUV, Nissan’s senior design director, Ken Lee, stated that the vehicle has a new version of the V-shaped grille that has been seen on bigger SUVs. Beyond that, the vehicle also has C-shaped design elements.
Beyond that, the other design details include all-new tail lights that run along the width of the rear tailgate. Beyond that, the SUV stands apart with the presence of flared wheel arches and multi-spoke alloy wheels.
The car has Tekton lettering on the nose as well as the sculpted hood of the vehicle. The scooped bonnet flows down to the grille as well. The car has a distinctive silver air intake, and similar design elements can be seen above the fender. The front and the rear bumpers have a dual-tone black and silver finish.
Interior Updates
Nissan has not revealed the SUV’s interior properly yet. A teaser image has showcased that the SUV dashboard comprises of three tones. It seems that the interior will have soft-touch materials and a glossy black finish. The other surfaces will be contrasted by a copper-coloured strip that runs from the central infotainment screen to the side A vents.
Nissan has not revealed any details about the engine of the vehicle. Media reports suggest that the line-up will comprise of petrol engines only. The upcoming Renault Duster is based on the same platform and is expected to share petrol engines with its Nissan counterpart.
