New Delhi: The new generation Toyota Fortuner is making an entry next year. The new model of the SUV could be launched in Thailand first, followed by other South East Asian countries. It may come to India in late 2023 or early 2024. A lot of cosmetic changes will be seen in the 2023 Toyota Fortuner.
It will also get new body panels. It will be more feature loaded and may come with a hybrid powertrain. It can be based on TNGA-F platform instead of the existing IMV architecture.
The same platform can also be found in the new Toyota Innova Highcross coming in early 2023. Toyota’s global Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser SUVs are also designed on the TNGA-G platform, which supports wheelbase lengths of 2850 mm to 4180 mm.
Engine
The new Fortuner can get a 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel engine with mild hybrid technology and Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The diesel hybrid powertrain could be named ‘GD Hybrid’. The new hybrid powertrain will make the SUV more fuel efficient than before.
Features
In terms of features, the new 2023 Toyota Fortuner will be more updated than the current generation model. The SUV could be offered with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) which includes blind spot detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic parking assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and lane departure.
The existing hydraulic steering wheel can be replaced with an electric power unit. The new Fortuner may come with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system.
Price
The current generation Toyota Fortuner comes in between a price range of Rs 32.59 lakh to Rs 50.34 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in 9 variants. With its design, features and mechanical upgrades, the price of the SUV will also increase.
