Yearly Fastag Pass Only For Rs 3,000

The new toll policy will be based on a fixed fee per kilometer instead of the arrangements of toll plazas.  Roughly, a car will have to pay a toll fee of Rs, 50 for hundred Km’s. Currently only monthly passes have been issued, but in the new policy the users would be able to get an annual pass of Rs 3,000- users would be able to travel unlimited kilometers throughout the year and it will not have to pay any fee on any expressway or highway.

How Losses will be compensated under this new formula

The Biggest challenge in the new policy implementation was the existing contracts of concessionaires and contractors , which do not have any provision for such a facility. The Ministry of Road And Transport and Highways has agreed to compensate for the loss. For such a pursuit, concessionaires will keep a digital record of the vehicle passing through their toll plaza’s and the difference between their claim and actual recovery would be compensated by the government according to the formula.

Barrier Free Electronic Tolling System

The New policy would promote barrier free electronic tolling. As per reports it has been alleged that three pilot projects related to this have yielded positive results. Banks would be given more power in case the vehicle passes by without paying any toll. Beyond that new penalties are also being devised to ensure such issues do not arise in the future.

No More Need To Adjust your Vehicle at the Toll Plaza

The Central Government has joined hands with the state governments to develop the new system, so that all types of roads can be covered. To overcome the congestion at the toll plaza, the officials associated with the highway management have held meetings with tier agencies. One of the constant issues with the toll has been that even after reaching the toll the drivers have to adjust the vehicle to be recognized by the toll. For this a new unified way of installing FASTAG and sensors would be authorized. This would be done to ensure that the toll does not take time to recognize the vehicle.

The Government has been increasing the scrutiny on the FASTAG, the policy of one vehicle one Fastag’s was implemented last year and after that close to about 1 crore Fastag’s were removed as being illegal or invalid. Officials have been very vigilant about such users.
