Tata Nexon has been one of the best performer from the Tata Clan, the compact SUV has been able to bring constant sales numbers for the brand. To upkeep such a performance Tata has been planning to launch a new iteration of the same. The car under development has been codenamed Garud as per a report by auto car professional and would be a heavily modified version of the X1 platform. The current generation of the Nexon was launched in 2017, along its time line the car has gone through comprehensive facelifts. The first facelift came in 2020, followed by a second one in 2023. So the 2027 timeline for the second generation SUV.
The Same Platform
The next generation of the Nexon would carry over the same X1 platform that traces its History backs to the Tata Indica. The platform has been majorly overhauled over the years. The chassis has gone through considerable change over the years and hence it would go through a range of changes to be able to support the new Nexon iteration.
The aesthetics of the car would also go through a range of changes that could easily help the vehicle look a little bit different than before. Tata has not until now releveled any details about the new iteration.
Next generation: Powertrain Options
The Next generation Nexon would possibly be offered with the same powertrain options such as a petrol powered powertrains , Diesel Options as well as a CNG variant as well. But it remains to be seen whether the diesel options would be resurfaced considering the tight emission stipulations that have been targeted on users. Emissions norms would push the brand to use selective Catalytic Reduction system that could be more costly than the other competitors.
Upon launch the new Nexon Would Go against the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and the new Skoda Kylaq in the compact SUV segment.
