Mercedes is planning a facelift for the all new GLS class, the second facelift for the current generation of the full sized SUV. The car was launched in 2020 model year and was given a mid life facelift in the 2024 year. The due second update is being planned as of yet, and is anticipated in 2027. The new update would bring in more substantial changes to the front fascia as well as the other parts of the vehicle. The camouflaged areas reveal that the new car would have profound changes and would don a new look for the 2027 year launch.
All the variants of the vehicle the Maybach, the GLS class as well as the high performance AMG trim would receive the update. While only the Maybach version was spotted in a recent test run other variants have been spotted being tested as well at different periods.
Would The Engine Receive An Update
Mercedes has not revealed any plans for the updating of the mechanical components of the engine. As of yet the vehicle is offered with a GLS 600 rendition only in America. In India the vehicle is available with a host of engine options. The first variant being the GLS450 4 Matic with a 2999cc. petrol engine offered at a price of around Rs 1.32 crore. Beyond that Mercedes also offers diesel powered variant The GLS 450d 4 Matic with a 2825 cc Automatic Diesel engine offered at a price point of Rs 1.37Crore.
The GLS 600 that is available in America is powered by a 4.0 liter V8 engine and a 48 volt Mild Hybrid Combination.
The aim of the facelift has been to increase the shelf life of the GLS with the same engine components. Mercedes has a strategy to keep the gas powered models on the market for longer than initially thought off.
Mercedes had just like other manufacturers planned a complete shift to Ev’s by 2030. But the slowing sales of EV vehicles has become the reason behind why Mercedes would want to retain some of their Gasoline powered vehicles in the lineup.
Beyond the GLS the Gle would also get a mid life update for better sales and promotion.
Would The New Changes Be Brought In India
As of yet the Maybach version as well as the AMG trim have to be imported and would be imported as a CBU unit. Beyond that once the overall changes of the vehicle are finalized Mercedes would possibly launch the new version in India as well.
