Land Rover Defender V8 SVX: New variations of Land Rover Defenders are being spotted testing in the Arctic Circle, but this one may be the coolest of the bunch. We don’t yet have an official name from Land Rover, but the concept appears to be similar to a Bronco Raptor or Wrangler 392.
Off-road, the formula on display here should result in big grins. With its quad exhaust pipes out back, this camouflaged Land Rover Defender V8 SVX clearly sports a V8 engine, but it’s the massive fender flares, lifted ride height, and chunky tyres that catch our eye. Unlike the more conservative-looking Defender 110, this Defender appears to be built for rougher off-roading.

This Defender is significantly wider than the norm, pushing those wheels out and filling the large fender flares. It isn’t quite as loud as a Bronco Raptor, but it is still loud.
The BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres that fill those slots are impressively beefy. Land Rover didn’t go so far as to fit uniquely small wheels to this more extreme model —they’re still 20-inch wheels — but the rubber protecting those off-road style wheels appears to be much more suited to the trail than any stock option available today.
Because it is powered by a V8, expect this mega-Defender to be the most expensive of the bunch when it is released. A 2023 Land Rover Defender V8 will set you back $112,775 before options. In that case, consider this Defender to be a Mercedes-Benz G 550 alternative rather than a Bronco Raptor rival. We’ll be waiting for its reveal with bated breath.
