FASTag has had been released by the government to ease the passage of vehicle through toll gates. The Government had aimed to seamlessly streamline the toll collecting operation to such an extent that no more challenges would erupt. But a few challenges have constantly irked the the government. To help the users travel with ease and combat these complications the government has implemented 5 new rules.
Here is a list of the 5 New Rules That Have Been Implemented By the Government.
Blacklisted FASTag’s –
If you reach the toll with blacklisted FASTag the toll payment would not be processed. The payment would be declined even if the FASTag had been blacklisted 10 minutes prior to the toll passing the user would have to pay extra charges.
Grace Period-
Users Would now get a 70 minute grace period to rectify the FASTag status before reaching the toll Booths.
Blacklisting Impact
If the FASTag is backlisted upon reaching the Toll, the user would have to pay double the toll charges as penalty. If the users does a recharge within 10 minutes of the tag scanning, a penalty refund can be requested by the user.
Delayed Transactions
FASTag users would face extra charges if toll transactions are processed more than 15 minutes after their vehicle passes the Toll reader.
Chargebacks
Banks would have the ability to increase the charge back for incorrect deductions related to the blacklisted or Low balance FASTags, only after a 15 day cooling period.
Who Would Benefit From The Changes
Often due to such implications users who had been using their FASTags the right way with proper recharges and payments used to suffer. As backlisted FASTags used to slow the pace of tolls. With such changes and reprimands the right users would be able to pass trough seamlessly while the defaulters would have to pay heavier charges and prices.
To ensure that the FASTags keep on operating as necessary all you have to do is have sufficient balance in your FASTag wallet. Keep a check on whether the FASTag has been blacklisted or not. And keep an eye on its stats for efficient working.
Defaulters Worries To Rise
Defaulters would have to go through a rigorous regimen of charges and fines in case of defaulting the system. Such penalties would further improve the functioning of the Toll gates in India.
