New Delhi: Luxury car manufacturer BMW has launched its all-new, third-generation X1 SUV at the ongoing BMW Joytown Festival in Bengaluru. In this, like the previous version, both petrol and diesel engines have been retained. However, the all-wheel drivetrain has been done away with. The ex-showroom price of the petrol version of this car has been kept at Rs 45.90 lakh and the diesel version has been priced at Rs 47.90 lakh. This car can be booked at the company’s dealership for a token amount of Rs 50,000. The delivery of this car will start from March 2023.

2023 new BMW X1: Interior and exterior

The new BMW X1 is 53mm longer in length, 24mm in width, 44mm in height and 22mm in wheelbase than its predecessor. Some changes have been made in the design of the new X1 from the previous model. It gets a slightly bigger grille, more dynamic angular creases along with brushed silver inserts on the bumper. It gets new inverted L shaped daytime running lamps with smooth headlamps. In the exterior profile, this SUV has been given smooth surfaces and flush door handles. It has 18-inch alloy wheels, slim wraparound LED tail-lamp at the rear. While the front and rear bumpers of the M Sport variant have been given a sportier design.

Talking about the interiors of the new X1, it has been given a large and new curved infotainment display display, which has also been seen in other cars recently like the new X7, 7 Series and 3 Series Gran Limousine. Along with this, the floating center console with some physical buttons along with new storage space has also been given on the dashboard. Also, the slim AC vents now look much nicer. There is a lot of space on the rear seats as well, and a large boot space of 476 liters is also available.

New BMW X1: Powertrain

The new BMW X1 is offered with a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol (sDrive 18i) and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel (sDrive 18d) engine options, producing 136hp and 230 Nm and 150hp and 360 Nm respectively. able to give. Both the engines are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which is a front wheel drive only system.

BMW claims that the petrol version can achieve 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds and the diesel version in 8.9 seconds. While the mileage of 16.3kmpl can be found on petrol and 20.37kmpl on diesel.

New BMW X1: Features

Talking about the features of the new generation X1, it will have a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.70-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, ADAS, auto LED headlights, Features like automatic tailgate operation and parking assist are available. The M Sport version also gets a massage function on the front seats.

Who will compete with?

The new BMW X1 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the new Audi Q3 in the Indian market. The Audi Q3 gets a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that outputs 190PS/320 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT and gets Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive as standard. Its initial ex-showroom price is Rs 44.89 lakh.
