Navratri Kicks Off with a Bang: Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Shatter Previous Sales Records

Following the GST reforms and festive season kick-off, major automakers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors recorded massive sales surges and broke previous records, driven by lower taxes, price reductions, and heightened customer demand.

Following the GST reforms and subsequent price reductions across vehicle lineups, several automotive brands witnessed record-breaking sales on 22nd September. According to official data, Maruti Suzuki delivered nearly 30,000 cars in a single day and received over 80,000 inquiries, breaking its 35-year-old record for the highest number of deliveries in one day.

Under the new GST reforms, vehicles with engines under 1,500 cc and bikes under 350 cc now attract 18% GST, down from the earlier 28%. This significant reduction has played a crucial role in boosting demand. Two key factors driving this surge were the onset of Navratri and the advantages brought by GST 2.0.

Initially, many customers were hesitant to invest in new vehicles due to uncertainty around the GST changes. However, once brands began marketing the reduced prices, customers flocked to showrooms to book and receive their vehicles promptly.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors sold nearly 10,000 vehicles, with a noticeable spike in demand for smaller vehicles following the new GST reforms. The brand also reported receiving over 25,000 customer inquiries across its showrooms.
