The demand for gearless scooters has been witnessing a steep rise ever since the very first Honda Activa saw the light of day back in 2001. The popularity came for obvious reasons – these scooters are convenient and offer a hassle-free commute to riders in the hustle-bustle of city traffic in India. These scooters are often credited with democratising mobility in the country, making it accessible to all ages and genders. Check out the list of 5 most affordable petrol scooters you can find in India:
Hero Destini Prime (Rs 71, 499)
Hero MotoCorp is known for making affordable scooters and the Destini Prime (formerly Destini 125) is a prime example (pun intended). It is the cheapest 125cc scooter in India, available at a starting price of Rs 71,499. Despite an attractive price, the scooter doesn’t compromise on features. It offers an external fuel filler, semi-digital instrumentation, a USB charging port and more as part of its long feature list.
Honda Dio (Rs 70, 211 – Rs 77, 712)
While Honda Activa has been a first choice for families, its younger sibling, the Dio, has also been popular among youngsters and could be found parked in college parking lots in large numbers. Its sharper design is built on the same solid foundations as the Activa and is offered at a significantly cheaper price.
Hero Pleasure+ (Rs 70, 338 – Rs 82, 238)
Another budget-friendly scooter from Hero is the Pleasure+ equipped with a 110cc engine. The latter comes with an LED headlamp and features like geo-fencing and location tracking.
Hero Xoom (Rs 71, 484 – Rs 79,967)
The Hero Xoom gets the same 110.9cc engine as the Pleasure+. A Honda Dio rival, it boasts sporty styling and a decent list of features. These include unique cornering lights, Bluetooth connectivity and diamond-cut alloy wheels for the top variant. Prices range between Rs 70,184 and Rs 78,517.
