MG Motor India, despite being a recent entrant to the Indian market, continues to make waves with its electric vehicle offerings. In addition to the ZS EV and the Hector SUV, MG has now unveiled the Marvel X, a larger electric SUV, at the ongoing Auto Expo. The Marvel X stands out as the world’s first mass-production model boasting Level-3 intelligent driving capability, showcasing MG’s commitment to electric-powered, self-driven, and connected vehicles.

A Familiar Connection: MG Marvel X and Roewe SUV

Observant individuals familiar with the Chinese market will recognize similarities between the MG Marvel X and Roewe’s SUV of the same name. This resemblance is attributed to the fact that both MG and Roewe share the same parent company, SAIC Motor. Notably, the MG Marvel X is essentially a rebadged version of the Roewe Marvel X.

Powerful Performance: Unveiling the Electric Powertrain

While specific details about the Marvel X showcased at the Auto Expo are yet to be disclosed, insights from the Roewe version are intriguing. The Roewe Marvel X features a 52.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering three electric motors, providing an all-wheel-drive capability. The combined output of these motors reaches an impressive 302hp and 665Nm of torque. For those seeking a lower-powered version, a variant with two rear motors offers 186hp and 410Nm of peak torque. The rear-wheel-drive version boasts a slightly longer range at 403km (NEDC) on a single charge, compared to the all-wheel-drive version’s 370km. Both versions share a top speed of 170kph, but the AWD accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 4.8 seconds, 3.1 seconds quicker than its counterpart.
