New Delhi: MG Motor India is about to introduce its new mini electric car in the Indian market in the month of April or May. It will be a 3 door ultra-compact EV with a boxy shape look and lots of comfort and features. This car has been built on MG’s Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform. The company will also use this platform for its other upcoming electric cars. A new media report has claimed that the company will also introduce a new micro SUV based on the GSEV platform for the Indian market.
How will be the new micro SUV
MG Motor is aiming to locally manufacture its Comet EV. For this, the company is sourcing batteries from Tata Autocomp. Most of the specifications and features of the new Comet EV can be seen in the new Micro EV. The new micro SUV will also be built on the GSEV platform. According to the report, the length of the new MG micro SUV (codename E260) will be around 3 meters and it will come in a three-door model design. It will be specially designed for urban use and will be a compact city EV.

How will the MG Comet be?
The new MG Comet will see a 17.3kWh battery pack, which is linked to a single, rear-mounted motor. This electric motor is capable of generating 40bhp power. No information has been received about the powertrain of the new micro SUV, but it is expected that the option of two battery packs can be found in it.
When will it be launched?
The new MG micro electric SUV is expected to be introduced in the year 2025. Due to which MG has a lot of time to locally prepare this micro SUV. The car will sit above the Comet in the company’s portfolio. This car can come at a price of less than Rs. 15 lakhs.

Who will compete with?
This car can compete with Tata Punch EV, which was displayed by Tata Motors at Auto Expo 2023. Powertrain like Tata Tiago EV can be seen in this car. The company can launch it by next year.
