MG Motor’s electric vehicle lineup in India includes models like the ZS EV and the Comet EV. Now, the brand plans to expand its EV portfolio in the country with the upcoming launch of its third electric product, giving more options to the customers in this segment. There are reports that the next EV from MG will be based on the all-electric Wuling Cloud.
A Cloud electric MPV was spotted testing for the first time in India. Although the test mule was heavily camouflaged, some key details and distinguishing features have been circulating online. The camouflaged mule was similar in shape to its counterparts around the world. It’s more like a crossover MPV in that it looks like a large hatchback with a relatively low roofline. MG India is expected to launch the Cloud EV in its production avatar by next year. Moreover, it has also filed a design patent in our country. Here’s everything we know about the MG Cloud EV.
MG Cloud EV: Design Details
The front profile of the MG Cloud EV features an LED light strip that spans the entire width of the vehicle. In addition, the big bumper features the primary headlight units. No sharp elements are seen throughout the body, but only smooth and simple lines can be found in the side profile. The floating roof design features a blackened roof and pillars.
Additionally, flushed-out door handles provide a clean, premium look, while ORVMs are installed on the front door. Other exterior components include a rear bumper with a number plate recess, LED taillights, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and a charging port on the left front fender.
Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, the upcoming MG electric compact MPV is expected to measure 1,850mm wide, 4,295mm long and 1,652mm tall when it is launched. Available in a 5-seater configuration, the India-spec version is expected to retain the same seating arrangement as the global-spec model.

Interior Layout and Features
In addition to the exterior, the interior design of the Cloud EV also appeared. There are very few physical buttons in the cabin; Instead, most functions are accessed via giant screens or steering wheel controls. Inside, there are three displays: an 8.8-inch all-LCD instrument console, a 15.6-inch centre control screen, and a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system.
Additionally, various connectivity options and features are available on the displays through the integrated LingOS 2.0 eco-cockpit. Expected notable features include a panoramic sunroof, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, rear AC vents, manual IRVM, and a wireless smartphone charger. In terms of safety, the MG Cloud EV might get six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
MG Cloud EV: Battery Specs
On the international market, the Baojun Cloud EV is available with two different battery capacities: 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh, corresponding to a claimed range of 360 kilometres and 460 kilometres on a full charge. However, it is not yet clear what versions and battery capacities MG Motor would offer in India. Once launched, the Cloud EV will rival the BYD e6.
It should be noted that the electric car is known as the Baojun Yunduo in China, the Wuling Cloud EV in Indonesia and will be called as the MG Cloud EV in India.
