New Mercedes E-class (LWB) is launched in India with a introductory price of Rs 78.5 Lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, India is the only right-hand-drive market the E-Class LWB is sold in.
E 450 is offered with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol generating 381 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Two 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines are also on offer for E 200 and E 220d models. All three engines are paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides an additional 23 hp and 205 Nm. Top of the line model E 450 gets 4Matic AWD system.
New E-class is equipped with S-Class-type flush door handles. The car runs on 18-inch wheels. It features new LED tail-lamps with a tri-arrow pattern. There’s also adequate use of chrome on the front and rear bumpers and on the sides.
New E-class also features 14.4-inch central screen, a 12.3-inch passenger screen, and a 12.3-inch instrument panel. The car also features 17-speaker and 4-exciter 4D surround sound system by Burmester.
New E-class safety kit consists of Level 2 ADAS features, and a total of 8 airbags. The car also features Active Brake Assist system.
Dimensions And Competitors
New E-class is 5,092 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,493 mm tall. The car has a wheelbase of 3,094 mm. The longer wheelbase provide ample of space and make the car’s cabin look bigger.
New E-class will compete the BMW 5 Series in its segment. However, the new E-class is costlier than 5 series.
