Mercedes has been witnessing rising sales in India, a higher demand for luxury sports vehicles rather than the entry level models has pushed the manufacturer in a pursuit to ramp up their vehicle line up. Hence the Mercedes-S class coupe could be a possible new entrant into the market.
The car had been discontinued globally for a few years ago. Now the car might possibly be brought back to the global as well as the Indian market soon. As per Auto Car the rumor’s of the return started when European Union Intellectual Property office, previewed two different iterations of the S-Class Coupe. But since these trademarks were filed by a swiss coach building company Robu Aktiengesellschaf instead of Mercedes, there still remains a mystery about the return of the vehicle.
Could Be A Limited Offering
As per the intended trademark information the car could emerge as a highly limited offering that could be brought as a rare edition in limited numbers. The trademark showcases the bodywork of the car with special features such as a divided rear window. beyond that the car would have the special quad twin pipes. The car is powered by a V8 Bi-turbo E performance badging. The car could possibly be powered by a 802 hp plug in Hybird powertrain that is also available with the AMGS 63 Sedan. Interestingly, this prototype has Maybach – like dual tone exterior paint theme.
More Luxurious Than The Normal S Class
The Second prototype is more luxurious and patent Images discovered By Car And Driver. The car has Maybach logos with a rear spilt window as well. This the more luxurious variant could be powered by a 6.0 litre V12 engine that has been seen on the Maybach S 680 previously.
Beyond the plans to launch these vehicles the company would possibly provide the S class with a mid life facelift this year.
S-Class Coupe Vs C-63 AMG Coupe
While the S class coupe was discontinued the C63 AMG coupe was on sale around the world. The AMG Coupe is powered by a 3982cc V8 engine. The car would churn out 469 bhp along with the peak torque of 650 nm @1750 rpm. The car has a Rear Wheel Drive layout that allows the vehicle to be the perfect recreational vehicle for enthusiast drivers. Beyond that the BMW’s M340i is also a possible choice for enthusiast drivers, while the vehicle is a lot cheaper it has the same engine as seen on the Toyota Supra as well as the BMW Z 4.
