The G 450 d is more powerful than its predecessors (G 350 d and G 400 d), which were on sale in India previously. The G 450 d’s 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine makes 367 hp up by 37 hp and 750 Nm of peak torque, which is about 50 Nm higher than the G 400 d. Beyond that, the new SUV also has a 48V mild-hybrid system that assists with up to 20 hp when required. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Mercedes claims a 0–100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. In terms of off-road ability, the Mercedes G 450 d sports a 241mm ground clearance between the axles. The G-Wagon offers breakover, approach, and departure angles of 31 degrees, 26 degrees, and 30 degrees, respectively. Mercedes has claimed that the G-Wagon will be able to drive stably on sideward slopes of up to 35 degrees.
Price and Rivals
The Diesel Powered G450D costs 20 lakh less than the all-electric g580 with EQ technology. The G450D’s closest rival will be the range-topping Land Rover Defender 110 diesel Trophy edition, which costs a whopping Rs 1.6 crore less at Rs 1.3 crore.
Interior Upgrades
The front grille has now been changed, with horizontal slats finished in chrome. The car now features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that run the latest MBUX NTG7 software, including the augmented reality navigation function that helps during off-roading – along with the transparent bonnet function.
Beyond these additions, the car also features Nappa leather upholstery, customizable ambient lighting, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Features such as Active Brake Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and a 360-degree camera will be standard on all cars.
