New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross, the upcoming coupe SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, will make its global debut in January. The unveiling is likely to take place at the 2023 Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi.
Its launch could take place a month after its world premiere – in February 2023. The report further states that the new Baleno Cross (YTB) will mark the return of Maruti Suzuki’s first 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine, which was offered in the first-gen Baleno RS . . Just for you, the company discontinued the Maruti Baleno RS before the implementation of BS6 emission norms as the Boosterjet unit was not BS6 compliant. Now the same engine will be back in its BS6 compliant avatar with mile hybrid technology.
It could be offered with 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions. The new Maruti Baleno Cross may also be offered with naturally aspirated petrol. The engine can be borrowed from MPV Baleno (1.2L Dualjet) or Ertiga and XL6 (1.5L Dualjet with mild hybrid system).
The new Baleno Cross will be based on the Maruti Futuro-e concept that was first seen at the Auto Expo 2020. While the production-ready model will retain most of its design cues from the concept, a few changes will set it apart from the Futuro-e.
At the front, the coupe SUV will feature split headlamps with thin LED DRLs as seen on the Grand Virat SUV.
Some of its key features will include a front grille with an inset mesh design, a taller and more upright stance, alloy wheels from the Baleno, a growing waistline, a prominent ramp over the rear wheels, etc.
We expect it to be equipped with features like wireless phone charging, 360-degree camera, Head-Up-Display, connected car technology, touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity, 6 airbags and many more.
