Maruti Suzuki Price Hike

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki today announced a price hike across models. “The estimated weighted average increase across models is around 1.1%. This indicative figure is calculated using ex-showroom prices of the models in Delhi and will be effective from January 16, 2023,” the automaker said.

Maruti Suzuki will announce its quarterly results for the period ending December 31, 2022, on December 24. Shares of Maruti Suzuki were trading 0.45% lower at ₹ 8,413 in a flat market in Mumbai today.

Auto Expo 2023

At the India Auto Expo in Noida last week, Maruti Suzuki launched two new models – the Jimny and the Fronx – in the SUV segment. Maruti also expects its model offering, especially SUVs, which have a large order backlog, to improve in the coming quarter.

The Jimny will be manufactured at the company’s Gurugram plant. India is the only country where the five-door version of the model is produced. And the vehicle will be exported from India to other markets as well. Bookings for both Jimny and Fronx have also opened and will be sold through Nexa retail outlets.

The company currently has a total order book of around 3.2 million units, down from around 4 million units last year.

Maruti Suzuki Price Hike

Maruti Suzuki India reported a 9% decline in total wholesale sales to 1,39,347 units in December 2022 compared to a month ago. The company achieved total sales of 1,53,149 units in the same month in 2021, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) said in a statement. Total domestic wholesale was at 1,13,535 units last month against 1,26,031 units in December 2021.

Utility vehicles such as Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL6 and Grand Vitara recorded higher sales last month at 33,008 units as against 26,982 units in the year-ago period. “The shortage of electronic components has had some impact on vehicle production, mainly in domestic models. The company has taken all possible measures to minimize the impact,” MSIL said.
