NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki launched its new SUV, the Fronx, in April this year, which is being well-received by customers. Due to increasing demand, Maruti Suzuki has increased the sales of this car. In May 2023, the company sold 143,708 units of cars in the domestic market, which is significantly higher compared to the same month last year. Maruti Suzuki has sold approximately 33,000 units of its SUV lineup, including the Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara, last month.
Impressive sales of the Fronx:
The newly launched Fronx crossover has also received a fantastic response from customers. The company sold 9,683 units of the Fronx in May 2023. It was initially believed that the new Fronx could impact the sales of the Baleno hatchback, but this does not seem to be the case. The Baleno remained the highest-selling car in the country with sales of 18,733 units in May 2023. The sales of the Baleno have seen a growth of 34.09% year-on-year.
Hyundai Creta leads the way:
In the SUV segment, Hyundai Creta was the best-selling SUV in May, with sales of 14,449 units. Tata Nexon secured the second position with sales of 14,423 units, while the Brezza sold 13,398 units and remained in third place. The Panch and Venue secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. The Fronx remained in the sixth position.
Features of the Maruti Fronx:
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available with two engine options, including a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.2-liter K-series petrol engine. These engines produce outputs of 100bhp/147.6Nm and 90bhp/113Nm, respectively. It comes with a standard 5-speed manual transmission, and there is an option of AMT with the 1.2L engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with the 1.0L turbo petrol engine. The 1.2-liter petrol engine delivers an ARAI-certified mileage of 21.79 km/l (MT) and 22.98 km/l (AT), while the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine offers mileage of 21.5 km/l (MT) and 20.01 km/l (AT).
