Maruti’s Luxury Model: May Sales Plummet With Only 6 Units Sold, Industry Experts Surprised!

Maruti Suzuki, India's top carmaker, sold 3,241 units of the premium XL6 model domestically in May 2024, with only 6 units exported that month.

Maruti Suzuki India is the country’s leading car company, offering a wide range of models from budget cars to luxury vehicles across all segments like hatchbacks, sedans, and compact SUVs. One of its models, the premium 6-seater XL6, recorded sales of 3,241 units in May 2024. However, its export numbers were minimal, with only 6 units shipped overseas last month.

The Maruti XL6 features the next-generation 1.5-liter K15C dual-jet petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, generating 114 bhp of maximum power and 137 Nm peak torque. It is available in Jetta, Alpha, and Alpha Plus variants, with the Jetta variant also offered in CNG.

The car introduces ventilated seats, catering to demand in regions with hot and humid climates and occasional cold spells. Safety features include standard 4 airbags and 6 airbags in the premium version.

Maruti has included several premium features in the XL6, such as a 360-degree camera, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, Smartplay Pro system, and Suzuki Connect telematics.
