Mahindra has launched the new AX5 Select variant of its popular XUV700 which aims to offer premium features at a cheaper price. With this, the home-grown manufacturer looks to further strengthen its position as an SUV manufacturer in the Indian market. The brand has increasingly been focussing in the mid-size SUV segment, where the Scorpio and XUV700 have been dominating the company’s sales. Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select Variant Arrives
Mahindra leads the monocoque mid-size SUV segment with more than 6,000 units sold in April 2024. To further expand its sales reach, Mahindra aims to offer a mid-range variant with more features to redefine the concept of affordable luxury. Therefore, it has introduced the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select in the market.
Mahindra XUV700 AX5 S: Price
As for the price, the Petrol MT trim of XUV700 AX5 S variant costs Rs 16.89 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Diesel MT versions carry a price tag starting from Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The automatic transmission option is available in the new AX5 S version in both petrol and diesel and costs Rs 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom) extra for each.
Features: What’s New?
The XUV700 AX5 S is only offered in a 7-seater version with a three-row, seven-seat layout. Furthermore, the SUV boasts premium features like a Skyroof (dual pane panoramic sunroof), keyless entry, push-button start, dual 10.24-inch displays (infotainment and instrumentation).
Other striking features of the new SUV includes 3rd row AC vents, LED DRLs, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6 speakers, Adrenox Connect suite complimentary for a year, and more.

Powertrains
Talking about the powertrain, the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select variant gets a 2.0-liter Turbo Petrol engine that churns out up to 200bhp and 380Nm. There is also the proven 2.2-liter Turbo Diesel engine that pumps out 185bhp and 420Nm. This motor is tuned to generate 450Nm with automatic transmission. Both engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the AX5 Select highlights the company’s new campaign with the tagline – “Fast Forward to the Big League.” Mahindra says this new variant has been designed for customers who want to own a luxury vehicle without burning a hole in their pockets. These additional features aim to attract a wider range of buyers.
