New Delhi: Mahindra has finally unveiled its much-awaited, first-ever electric SUV in India called the XUV400. It fits into the compact SUV space and aims to give buyers another choice when it comes to EVs. Pricing will be published in January 2023 and bookings will also open around the same time. Here is our first impression of the XUV400.
Exteriors
The car is the widest in its class
At 4,200mm long, the XUV400 is actually longer than its competition and is also the widest at 1,821mm.
In terms of design, the XUV400 gets some clear visual changes in the form of a new front bumper, a new grille along with a new Mahindra ‘Twin Peaks’ logo while also getting bold bronze accents.
It also gets new 16-inch alloy wheels.
Interiors
The car has a long wheelbase
With a wheelbase of 2,600mm, the XUV400 claims to be more spacious than its nearest rival and also has the highest boot space at 418 litres.
The interior design is similar to the XUV300 with some changes in the form of new upholstery, new switches and a redesigned steering wheel with a new logo.
The interior also gets bronze accents.
Function
From connected car technology to dual-zone air conditioning
In terms of features, you get a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, smartphone connectivity and OTA updates.
Other equipment includes a single-pane sunroof, dual-zone climate control, six airbags, a rear camera with parking sensors and four-wheel disc brakes.
However, it lacks features like a panoramic sunroof and a fully digital dashboard.
Performance
It has a stated range of 456 km
The XUV400 has a 39.4 kWh battery and claims a range of 456 km on a single charge. In terms of power, the electric motor develops 150 hp/320 Nm.
The maximum speed is set at 150 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.
As with all electric cars, you get regenerative braking along with driving modes.
It is also compatible with fast DC charging.
