New Delhi: The Mahindra XUV300 has left Nexon behind in terms of safety. In the Global NCAP (GNCAP) crash test, the Tata Nexon has been rated 5 stars for adult protection and 3 stars for child protection, while the XUV300 has been rated 5 stars for adult protection and 4 stars for child protection. In this sense, the XUV300 is safer than the Nexon.
However, when it comes to budget compact SUVs, the Mahindra XUV300 is a step ahead of the Tata Nexon in terms of safety. This SUV gives you such a combination of safety, comfort, and performance that you can even turn down the Tata Nexo.
The Mahindra XUV300 is more powerful than the Tata Nexon in terms of engine and performance as well. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine of the Mahindra XUV300 generates 110 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. At the same time, Tata Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine gives 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque.
Tata Nexon’s 1.5L diesel engine generates 115 PS power and 260 Nm torque, while Mahindra XUV300’s 1.5L diesel engine generates 117 PS power and 300 Nm torque.
In terms of safety, the Mahindra XUV300 gets features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, corner braking control, and front and rear parking sensors. The Nexon, on the other hand, gets features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.
Mahindra XUV300 prices range from Rs. 8.42 lakh to Rs. 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Tata Nexon, on the other hand, is priced between Rs 7.80 lakh and Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The ‘Red Dark’ variant of the subcompact SUV starts at 12.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
