New Delhi: Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is about to launch its new electric SUV XUV 400 early next year. This car will be available in the market in three variants like Base, EP and EL. Based on the XUV300 and built under the ‘Born Electric’ line-up, this is Mahindra’s all-new electric SUV. This car can give a range of up to 456 kilometers on a single charge.
How is the design?
The new Mahindra XUV 400 will come with a closed grille and ‘Twin Peaks’ logo. The car gets copper-finished inserts, wide air dams, muscular bonnet, swept-back, ORVMs, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, wrap-around LED taillights, roof mounted spoiler, LED headlights, boomerang-shaped DRLs, sides But there will be roof rails, a raked windscreen, flared wheel arches and a lot more to see.
How much range will you get?
Mahindra has used its Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform for this new electric car. The electric motor fitted in it is capable of generating 150bhp power. For power, this car will get a 39.5kW battery pack, with the help of which this car is capable of running for 456 kilometers on a single charge. This car can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes with the help of a DC fast charger.
Will be equipped with these features
A large 5-seater cabin will be seen in this Mahindra electric SUV. The cabin also gets connected car tech, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel, leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, premium leather upholstery, an all-black dashboard with copper-coloured trims. Features like a sunroof with six airbags, ABS and EBD will be seen.
How much will be the cost?
At present, the prices of this SUV have not been announced. It will be disclosed at the time of its launch in January 2023. But the starting price of this car is expected to be around Rs 15 lakh.
Will compete with this car
In terms of price and range, the Mahindra XUV 400 will compete with the Tata Nexon EV Max in the Indian market. The Nexon EV Max gets a 40.5kWh battery pack, which is mated to an electric motor producing 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. This car gets an ARAI certified range of 437 km. With a 50kW DC fast charger, this car can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 56 minutes. The ex-showroom price of this car starts from Rs. 18.34 lakhs.
