The highly competitive sub-4m compact SUV segment is heating up with the recent launch of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Earlier this month, the homegrown automaker introduced the XUV 3XO as its smallest SUV in India. The SUV competes with the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Mahindra is eyeing a sizeable share in this segment with the latest entrant as it aims to emerge as one of the leading SUV makers in the country by 2027.
However, this segment has been dominated by the Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV 3XO can give it a run for its money. The XUV 3XO boasts powerful powertrain options including manual and automatic options. Additionally, it has a feature list that rivals Nexon’s offerings. So, let’s check out some features of the Mahindra XUV 3XO that are missing on the Tata Nexon.
Steering Modes
The XUV 3XO is available with selectable steering modes, which means that the drivers can select between different steering assistance levels depending on driving conditions and their preferences, ranging from light and easy steering feel for city driving to a more responsive arrangement for highway cruising.
Dual-Zone Climate Control
Dual-zone climate control is one of the distinct features of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. This ensures a comfortable ride for everyone as the driver and front passenger can individually adjust their temperature. The Tata Nexon misses out on this feature and offers a conventional single-zone climate control setup.

Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
The Tata Nexon’s main selling point remains its much-vaunted 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Although the SUV comes with plenty of safety technology, it lacks the ADAS Level 2 available on the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Additionally, the XUV 3XO boasts a 360-degree parking camera, six airbags, and more.
Electronic Parking Brake
The newly-launched Mahindra XUV 3XO even has an electronic parking brake with auto-hold feature, making it easy to manage commutes on high-traffic roads. On the other hand, the Nexon is equipped with a mechanical handbrake.
Rear Disc Brakes
The Mahindra XUV 3XO gets rear disc brakes ensuring better braking performance including better stopping power and heat dissipation as compared to drum brakes. The Tata Nexon takes care of braking duties with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
