After weeks of anticipation, Mahindra finally revealed the Vision S concept yesterday on Independence Day. Judging by its design and stature, it’s apparent that the new SUV concept will soon join the Mahindra Scorpio family, which currently includes the Scorpio N and the Classic Scorpio. Alongside the Vision S, Mahindra has also showcased Vision concepts X, T, and SXT.
Vision S Exterior Details
The Vision S looks unlike any other Mahindra currently on sale. The front fascia features LED headlights positioned on either end, while the grille, which also incorporates additional LED elements, and the signature twin peaks logo at the center. The bumper below houses a radar unit and parking sensors. To further distinguish it from Mahindra’s existing lineup, the SUV gets roof-mounted lights and pixel-shaped fog lamps.
For off-road readiness, the Vision S is equipped with thick cladding along the doors and wheel arches. The SUV rides on 19-inch wheels with star-shaped rims. Instead of conventional ORVMs, the concept uses side-mounted cameras.
At the rear, inverted tail lamps echo the styling cues of the front. The bumper’s reflector unit resembles the one on the Bolero Neo, while a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate carries the Vision S branding.
Vision S Interior and Features
Inside, the Vision S introduces a fresh layout. A new steering wheel with VISION S lettering at the center stands out, complemented by a fully digital driver’s display with updated graphics. The infotainment screen is expected to run Mahindra’s new NU UX system, offering wireless smartphone connectivity.
Dual-tone upholstery, redesigned door trims, and premium seats enhance the cabin’s appeal, while a panoramic sunroof adds to its sense of space. Grab handles have been thoughtfully positioned to make ingress and egress easier.
Vision S Specs and Platform Details
Like the Vision T, SXT, and X concepts, the Vision S is underpinned by Mahindra’s NU-IQ platform. This versatile monocoque platform can accommodate SUVs between 3,990 mm and 4,320 mm in length and supports petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains. It is compatible with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts.
Since the concept features a fuel cap, an ICE version seems likely—potentially with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Additional features like variable-ratio steering are expected to enhance handling despite the SUV’s tall stance.
