New Delhi: Vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra launched its Scorpio SUV in a new avatar last year. Along with this, a new SUV Scorpio-N is also sold in the market. Which is completely different from Scorpio Classic from outside and inside. Both these SUV cars are very popular in the market at the moment. Also, the demand for the Scorpio Classic hasn’t reduced at all even after the arrival of the new Scorpio N.
Will get new variant
The company will soon upgrade the engines in its Scorpio Classic to meet the new RDE standards. Along with this, Mahindra will also launch a mid-spec variant S5 for this SUV. This new S5 variant will fill the space between its lower variant S and top variant S11. Currently, it only gets a 9-seater option in the base variant, while its new S5 variant will come in 7 and 9 seater options.
Features will be like this
The Scorpio Classic S gets a 9-seater layout, with modal bench seats in the second row and 2×2 side facing bench seats at the rear. On the other hand, in the top-spec model S11, the option of both captain and bench seats is available in the second row. The S5 trim will also come with the same seating layout. Also, the new variant is likely to get steel wheels with covers, audio system, electronic ORVMs, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist.
How is the engine?
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic gets a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, which will be updated to meet the BS6 Stage II or Real Time Driving emission norms. This engine generates 130bhp power and 300Nm torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The company will also update the petrol and diesel engines of the Scorpio-N as per the new RDE norms.
Competes with MG Hector
The car competes with the MG Hector in the market, which is offered with a 1.5 L, 4-cylinder, petrol engine and a 2.0 L 4-cylinder, diesel engine option. Along with this, many advanced features are also available in it.
